My hero contest entry is a statement on taking charge and being your own hero. Keeping healthy and being strong in heart, mind and body and to inspire others to join you.

My hero contest entry is a statement on taking charge and being your own hero. Keeping healthy and being strong in heart, mind and body and to inspire others to join you. It's about being the best you can be no matter what challenges you face. It's about being kind and helpful. It's about teaching our children to accept and embrace individuality in themselves and others. It's about stepping up and defending those in need with integrity and doing the right thing even in the face of opposition and peer pressure. It's about being a true champion and hero. It's about teaching our children that in the process of accomplishing themselves to their greatest potential they will then get the opportunity to become someone less fortunates hero. In guiding your children, students, etc. to these heights you then are also a hero to those you help understand. We can all be heros in some ways if we choose. A little hero here and a bit more hero there all adds up to a whole lot of great loving energy that we all benefit from.

tallulahdahling says: Thanks for sharing your personal story, Janiece. The idea of becoming one's own hero is inspiring and so important. It's one worth spreading in every way possible, through literature and movies and YouTubes, and graffitti, and even through fabric. Love the design, and the fact that it's appropriate both for 6-year-old and the more "sophisticated" 12-year-old boys that are the contest targets. : )

whimzwhirled says: Thanks ladies, This was easy for me because I did this in my own life. I grew up in horrific conditions and was well on the way to becoming a horrific person. One day I met a hero. She told me about personal responsibility vs being a victim. It changed the direction of my life forever. I started thinking before acting and making choices that were right for me even if I didn't have a support network from home. That ah ha moment saved my life and gave it meaning. The universe has sent me several great heros in this lifetime. I am truly blessed.
