It was only a matter of time before I discovered fabric design. I grew up playing under the sewing machine table with all my art supplies to keep me busy, all while listening to the tunes of the sewing machine. Still learning... HS Art teacher 20 yrs.

Celebrate American is a nostalgic view of an American tradition, celebrating the fourth of July in small town USA where they still wave their flags out the windows and fly them on the flag poles and celebrate the harvesting of crops and pop fire crackers in the streets. So load up the kids and join the celebration in the park. The parade will be starting soon! (Size will be altered after contest ends to a fat quarter size to make a fun quilt for a little boy.)

thats_artrageous says: Thank you, Sue Ellen. The drawing started as a means to entertain my grandchildren on a six hour trip. Then it evolved.

fireflower says: Very cute, and very well done. The little boys of my acquaintance would love a quilt or play blanket made of this.

thats_artrageous says: Celebrate America! is my entry in the Stars and Stripes competition. It is the small town celebration that takes place all over the US with fireworks, picnics and parades, where watermelons are found growing in the fields and farmers' fresh produce is available in their stands along the roads.

thats_artrageous says: Thank you, Rhonda and Maaike for your kind comments. You made me smile this early morning. It was fun putting this together. I made the little vehicles and cut them out and then played with them like a puzzle to work out the composition before taking it to Photoshop. Maaike, love your book idea. Great idea! Thanks.

thats_artrageous says: Thank you, Donna Marie and Isabella, I started the drawings for my grandsons and then it started taking a life of it's own. Toward the end of the development of the sketch I really started getting into it, Isabella and used several family references as names for things and peanuts and strawberries are a big crop in this area. It is for my grandsons and it was fun to do.
