In Japan, cherry blossoms (“Sakura” in Japanese) symbolize spring and beauty. Cherry trees blossom briefly before blossoms are blown by the wind, and cherry blossoms are ephemeral and fragile, like human condition. Thus the Japanese concept of Beauty is very different from the West, where beauty has to do with eternity and immutability. Cherry blossoms are everywhere in Japanese art, from printmaking to kimono fabric and traditional tattoos, named “Irezumi”.

This design is available in different scales and different colorways.
