Design from my Butterfly coordinate contest entry, Mutation Botanica.

This design is inspired by the Victorian past-time of collecting butterflies and displaying them. They are displayed in circular dishes as if they were being inspected under a microscope, hence the name 'On Closer Inspection'. The butterfly designs are created by combining photographs of petals from tulips, lilies and Amaryllis for the wings, with pen and ink drawings for the bodies. The flower garlands are also hand drawn.

tallulahdahling says: What an interesting and unusual design! Flower petals make lovely wings - and on closer inspection we find out what they really are! Well done!

uzumakijo says: Thankyou so much for your comment, I really appreciate it! I used to be on Spoonflower quite a lot and link my photos via Flickr, was having problems getting them to upload here yesterday so I linked them to my facebook page instead...hopefully people will see them there! Haven't been on SF for a while so not sure if its just me or Flickr the problem lol!

atlas_&_tootsie says: This design is gorgeous. You really captured the Victorian style. Your technique is unusual and beautifully executed. I saw your picture of this fabric sewn into a bedcovering. I hope you'll upload that picture here as well for everyone to see. It's very interesting as wallpaper too. Good luck in the contest!
