Some day, I hope to make it to the Great Barrier Reef because snorkeling is my favorite vacation activity and spotting sea turtles, the biggest thrill of all. One of my favorite memories is when we took my mom to St John with us, taught her to snorkel and pretty much held her hand and dragged her through miles of ' reef. After three days of snorkeling and seeing lots of pretty sea life, we had almost given up on spotting a sea turtle. Then on the last afternoon of the last day we were blessed and encountered a big, friendly, green seaturtle that swam with us for about an hour before he finally swam away. We were all elated, it was a golden day! I'll never forget that clear aqua water, that beautiful day, my brave 68 year old mom as excited as a child (me too!) and gliding next to that magnificent turtle.
