Wonderful subtleties are possible in digital printing --so I explore textures of watercolor, oil painting, and batik. You may sell fiber arts made with my rights-reserved Spoon-printed designs. Post links to show what you've made!

Description:

I combined elements of several Indonesian batik designs, drawing this to resemble wax resist.

It prints very black-and-white, which will make it versatile for anything you'd like to do with it. This should even take permanent markers, if you stretch and tac the fabric taut before coloring. The print seems to hold up under rubbing alcohol (at your own risk). Try tie-dyeing it to add your own crinkling and mottled colors, or add your own stages of batik and painting.

wren_leyland says: This image was cut off in the linking, but shows the lanyard clip sewn onto the silk crepe de chine scarf. Since the back of the fabric was slightly lighter, I folded over to stitch instead of hand-rolling; this gave a sturdier look which seemed important for a lanyard scarf.

wren_leyland says: I tea-dyed the silk crepe de chine to create warm cafe au lait-tones, using hot tea, and the digitally-printed dyes proved to be set well. Then I hand-stitched scarves and a lanyard, sewed on lightweight beads and a lanyard clip, and brass buttons for easier fastening and ready-to-wear convenience.
