This design, in another colorway and orientation, was my entry for the July 2016 Betabrand contest. The goal was to develop a design that was not what it seemed at first, i.e. which had hidden or disguised elements. I began with a section of an abstract design I had done previously, and worked from that, in a meditative style. In other words, I had no idea where I was going. I just kept following the creative urge. Take a close look at this design. How many young women do you see? One of the reasons I named this pattern "The Fascinating Girl " (Italian: L'affascinante Ragazza) is because only one or two young women are apparent at first. But if you keep looking you will see many more. Though not tesselations, which would be nesting repetitions of the same one or two elements, the various depictions of young women are all entwined. Hope you enjoy it! There are several sizes in the collection, but if you need another one, just ask. copyright Mary K Wykes July 7, 2016
