The art nouveau movement was past its prime. The Egyptian tombs had not yet been raided, unleashing an Egyptian revival movement that would connect with a streamline moderne one to create art deco. But there was still a trendy graphic style. Some call it the arts and crafts movement. But that evokes images of Junior cutting out hearts and sticking them on paper with glue. That is not what arts and crafts or Craftsman means. This style had minimalized bits of nouveau and angles of deco stuck in it. But it wasn't quite either of them. What I tried to do in this abstract horizontal stripe is evoke the sense of new and trendy of a century ago. How much this design feels like a 1914-1918 era artifact is up to you to decide.
