su_g says: Thanks so much Mary! "Line work" sounds pretty good to me, certainly accurate and I know just what you mean (I think)!

maryyx says: I love the line work . . . I'm sure there's a more sophisticated term for it (sorry) . . .

su_g says: Thanks so much for your nice comment Janine - I really appreciate it. I'm not sure I did Margaret Preston any favours with this one but she *was* my inspiration - so credit where credit's due! There's a fabulous (& weighty) book from a retrospective of her work that is just wonderful to look at: she was such a 'modern' in her times. The Australian women artists have never really had their due I feel. But that's another story!

su_g says: Thank you both so much Tina and Vo for your super motivating comments and feedback on this design - very very much appreciated! And so glad you enjoyed Margaret Preston Tina - she is one of my favorite Australian painters and I take a lot of inspiration from her work.

ottomanbrim says: I agree with Sue Ellen this is such a timeless design that would never go out of fashion! It's exquisite. And I loved researching Margaret Preston!

su_g

su_g says: You've re-awakened my interest in this style Sue Ellen - I'm always looking for those timeless symbols that are the essence of design and I just loved your comments, especially re breathing more softly and deeply, which seems to me to go to the heart of the same impulse (or something... words are SO inadequate!)

fireflower

fireflower says: The outlining gives this a feel of woodblock printing like that seen on tapa cloth. To me, this design has an essential, timeless, feeling; it doesn't have a 'fashion' to 'go out of,' but more an inherent "yes!". One breathes more softly and deeply while looking at it.

su_g says: The solid color is a hot orange (#ec481a) that actually printed a bit lighter on quilting cotton while the stripes are a red (#a71124) and did print red, even distinguishable on the yellow. I will put it in my next batch for photos as these differences could matter!
