Description:

Pantone Solid Coated Formula Guide color library. The full chart fits on any fabric that is 42" wide.

PLEASE NOTE: This color chart is primarily intended to be used as a designer reference tool. Please be aware that it has text included in it in case you're ordering it for a sewing project. I use this color chart as a reference for how Pantone colors look when they're printed on Spoonflower's assorted fabrics Simply order the chart on the Spoonflower fabrication that you plan on using & use it as a reference for how Pantone Solid Coated Formula Guide colors will look on your finished product. Please note that the colors may not match Pantone colors exactly... which is why I created the chart :) This helps take the guess work out of how your colors will print on Spoonflower products. I hope you find it as helpful as I do!

heather...

heatherdutton says: Hi Rachel!! The pattern will repeat again for the extra 14" on 56" wide fabric... So you'll get a full chart & then the start of another one right next to it :) What a FUN idea to use this for a shirtdress!

pinkinboston says: The description says that " the full chart fits any fabric that is 42 inches wide. " If I'm ordering it on fabric that is 56 inches wide, does that mean there is white space, or does the pattern repeat for another 14 inches? (I'm fine with the words, etc.... on the fabric, per your note. I think this will be fun in a shirtdress :-D ) Thank you, Heather!

kaseygi...

kaseygillingham says: Hi Heather lately I've been having all sorts of trouble with colour matching and I think it may be because I've started saving pngs of my files because that is what Spoonflower has suggested. I don't remember having so many issues when uploading my Illustrator files. Now when using your chart, colours don't seem to match. Can I ask what RGB profile you work in?

woo_hoo...

woo_hoo_design says: Hello Heather, Great idea! I just purchased your color chart with Pantone colors. Can't wait to try it out. As a graphic designer, I've used the Pantone system my whole career, so I feel more comfortable with it than the hex system! Have you tried using the Pantone textile swatches with Spoonflower? If so, how does it compare?

heather...

heatherdutton says: Hi Faith... I created the Pantone chart for just that purpose. If you order a yard of it (= 1 full chart) on the fabric weight that you plan on working with it you can use it as a reference for the Pantone #'s you select for your prints/fabric since they print differently on Spoonflower fabric than they look in the actual Pantone color charts (from Pantone). I hope that makes sense :)

faithcsmith says: Do you think this could be helpful in choosing pantone colors for fabric?

Posted over 3 years ago.

heather...

heatherdutton says: Hey Terri! I've left mine as is (1 yard of fabric) and I just grab & fold the colors so I can see how they look next to each other. It's a bit cumbersome at first but it does the trick :) Organizing & keeping track of over 1,000 individually cut out squares of color would be way more cumbersome... but everyone has their own method.

terri_s...

terri_stegmiller says: Hi Heather! I ordered the color chart and have received it. I'm just wondering how you use yours. Do you leave it all in a one yard piece? Do you cut each square out so you can place certain colors together to see how they look? I find that leaving it all in one yard is sort of difficult to work with. Thanks!

dorothy...

dorothyjeanne says: Thanks, guys! I think maybe it's a combination of what you suggested. I had the pantone chart printed on the kona cotton, and then had my designs printed on linen cotton and cotton sateen and I was saving png files, not jpgs.

victori...

victorialasher says: Dorothyjeanne, it could be the fabric you had your designs printed on, if it wasn't the same as the one you had the color chart printed on. The color varies quite a bit on some of them. Click on the "fabrics & pricing" link at the top left of any Spoonflower page and you can see how much it varies with the Spoonflower logo flower.

heather...

heatherdutton says: I'm sorry your colors were off when you got your samples Amanda :( I create all my designs using colors from the Pantone Coated library & then I save the files out as RGB jpg's before I upload them to Spoonflower. I hope that helps :)

dorothy...

dorothyjeanne says: what file type do you save your graphics as? i was in RGB and was saving files as png, but when I got my samples, they were off by quite a bit. thanks!

happysewlucky says: Heather this color chart is the biz! Finally one that I can use in Illustrator. (I have ordered others with hex numbers, and I don't seem to be able to find a hex palette in Illustrator.) Really helpful, nice big swatches. Thanks so much for doing such an awesome job of it.

heather...

heatherdutton says: I only have it for RGB right now, since that's what I create all my designs in. I originally ordered a similar chart that "Tammikins" created, but my colors weren't matching up when I got my test swatches :( That makes me think that maybe hers is CMYK? Here's the link to her chart :http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric_items/new?buy_this=true&design_id=234992&fabric_item_id=146860
