By day I am an upstanding mosaic designer for New Ravenna Mosaics on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. By night I am a superdork drawing whatever weird things pop into my head. By morning I'm exhausted.

Description:

One of the indicators that an ocean ecosystem is out of whack is a sudden population explosion of jellyfish, known as a "bloom". Our oceans are currently chock full of blooms of jellyfish, a blatant and ominous sign that we need to open our eyes, change our ways and maybe think twice before skinny dipping.

ceanirminger says: Thanks so much, Victoria! I was lucky that it ended up the fun- to-draw/interesting colored-jellyfish that are the harbingers of doom and not some hard to make cute sea animals like sponges or sea snot.

victorialasher says: As usual, your description is as wonderful as your design. This has fabulous movement and I think it really nails the idea of raising awareness of the issues affecting our oceans.

ceanirminger says: Thank you so much, Graceful and Heather! I'm super stoked to have made it into the 100, I think it's the first time I ever made it into a partially culled Spoonflower contest!

rhondadesigns says: Cean, your design looks wonderful as well as being a timely reminder of the precarious state of the oceans. An abundance of jelly fish in the water certainly does add an element of potential danger and pain to a dip in the sea!

ceanirm...

ceanirminger says: Thanks Alex and Julie! The colors were a crap shoot since I just colored the jellyfish in black and dark colors and then inverted the image while crossing my fingers and grimacing. Thank goodness it worked out okay.
