When it comes to cute and goofy, the Crosley up there in the ranks. Manufactured from 1939-1952, in size small only, it predates the compact car trend by two whole decades. I have my doubts about how much fun this two cylinder air cooled mini would be to drive. But even today, it would be cheap transportation. During the fuel shortages of World War Two these little buggers got 50 miles to the gallon. A surviving example would probably still get something in that range, though where you would put the groceries, should you try to actually run an errand with this car, would be a good question.
