By Cean Irminger

By day I am an upstanding mosaic designer for New Ravenna Mosaics on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. By night I am a superdork drawing whatever weird things pop into my head. By morning I'm exhausted.

victori...

victorialasher says: Another wonderful, illustrative design. I agree about Goldilocks; but I also always heard the version of the Jack and the Beanstalk story as the giant having stolen the goose from Jack's father; I think the harp also.

bee&lotus

bee&lotus says: Haha! I was thinking of a Jack theme design, but also dislike the moral (or lack thereof). This is a wonderful design though.

shiny

shiny says: this is so great. I agree with your view on Jack and Goldilocks. Even as a kid I never quite understood why they should be rewarded. I did see a Jack marionette play once, where they had been investigation the story and apparently there are versions where initially the Giant stole the goose from Jack's father. So that sort of makes it better :)

ceanirm...

ceanirminger says: Thanks everybody for the super feedback! I've decided on a different pattern for the project selvage, but I'm glad I did this one, though thieving, nasty boys like Jack really shouldn't be immortalized on fabric. Rather he and his compatriot of home invasions Goldilocks should be thrown in the clinker!

rhondad...

rhondadesigns says: The Giant looks seriously scary in his wrathful pursuit of the larcenous Jack! Cean, this is a super illustration of the ultimate, "boy's own", adventure in the realm of Fairytales.

ttoz

ttoz says: How cute are these guys?! I love the golden eggs (the goose looks a little worried — um, if I had to go up there, I'd rather the giant be the one to carry me up too!) SO well done and original as always!
