OK, so these are my colors, even though I think this design has a Minoan inspiration. The batik stamp with the spirals in the sea turtles seems very like something they might have done, and they did lots of spirals, as well as naturalistic ocean life. ___But they liked bright colors; blue, red, yellow, purple, on white. They made the red-purple dye from Murex snails. This, although colorful, is more subdued than what we know of their taste. __And so far as we know, although they did brightly patterned fabrics, and constructed clothing (!), not just a draped sheet, they did not have batik. But they would have liked it, I'll bet ...
