Message me for resizing designs or colors changes and turning designs 90 degrees to better use the fabric. I share an interest in fabric design with my sister ArtbyJaneWalker . I'm a quilter and have a love of fabric. I can set up photos for pillows.

Description:

Twirling tulips and daffodils centered in yellow stars. Limited pallete contest. I used all the colors, though some only sparingly.

I went through so many variations (dozens) before slelecting this one. The flowers were inspired by photos of flowers in our garden. The Pinwheels in the Wind quilt block is my own creation; I have never seen it elsewhere. This is much easier than actually sewing the block, which is trickier than it looks. I have made some individual blocks and a quilt with this block. The hex flower pattern started as a coordinating pattern from the geometric limited palette contest. Proofed at 450 dpi and set at 300 dpi. Message me if you want it smaller or bigger (24 inch repeat at full size).

su_g says: So pretty for quilters! Useful as both a block and a (whole) cheater quilt - looks lovely as yardage.

khowardquilts says: I just set this smaller so it would print evenly on 42 inch fabric.

mina says: Great design! Lovely intricate quilt design, but I especially love your sophisticated use of color. The white centers, as well as the yellow and dark blue, give it a spring freshness that most of these contest designs didn't have.

rhondad...

rhondadesigns says: Your lovely design combines all the elements that make for a very special quilt block, Kathy. There are some very interesting dynamics in the pieced layout, some gorgeous floral motifs in the applique and an excellent use of colour, tone and texture in the prints that you have use.

khoward...

khowardquilts says: It is a limited palelete contest. I wasn't going to use some much yellow, but it does make it pop.

kimruss@thatcatart says: Best of luck in the contest! Your quilt is, well, a quilt, no cheap imitations here ! My choice would be this pattern too, with the yellow triangles setting off the center block.
