Bricks laid in English Bond construction with a diamond diaper pattern.
Bricks laid in English Bond construction with a diamond diaper pattern. English Bond alternates rows of stretchers with rows of offset headers - tying the two sides of the wall together. It makes a different pattern (and perhaps a slightly stronger wall) than the Flemish Bond, which alternates headers and stretchers on each row. The old brickwork patterns are largely incompatible with modern cavity-filled walls (though they are sometimes faked with a brick skin over the actual supporting structure).
