are true survivors!
These sweet Exmoor ponies almost became extinct after the war and are still considered endangered . They are a ideal breed for conservation because they can eat berries and even prickly plants like gorse and thistles! Exmoor Ponies nearly became extinct after the Second World War, owing to soldiers using them for target practice and thieves killing them for their meat. After the war a small group of breeders worked to save the Exmoor as there were only 50 left worldwide, and during the 1950s ponies began to be exported to North America. Sabre-toothed tigers, Woolly mammoths and hill ponies roamed the planet during the Ice Age, but only one of them still exists. Exmoor Ponies have a pure blood line that can be traced back to prehistoric times and are unlike any other little horses.
