Sew right and left sides together using a 1/2" seam alowance. Stop and backstitch about 2" from the top in both sides. - Press side seam allowance open, including 2" portion that is not sewn together. Carefully sew those edges down, starting at the top of one side, pivoting about 1/4" below the opening and backstitching once, then up the other side. - Fold top edges down 1" and pin in place. Sew this flap down to create your casing. You can stitch right on top of the stitching for the hemmed edge. - Add a quick gusset or boxed bottom. Take the bottom corners of the bag and fold them so that the side and bottom edges run down the center, creating a point. Measure down 13/4" from the point and sew following a line perpendicular to the side seam. - You can trim away excess fabric 1/4" away from the seam. Repeat with other corner. - Turn bag right side out. Put a safety pin and one end of your ribbon (or fabric drawstring) to help thread it through your casing. Tie the ends of the ribbon in a knot. Add a second ribbon starting from the other side of the casing, so you'll have 2 opposing knots.
