About the Design

My entry to the 2015 Fabric8 competition: Botanical Sketchbook.

When I was a little girl I was given a hardback copy of 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' -- a facsimile of Edith Holden's beautifully hand written and illustrated nature notes for 1906. Edith was a British artist and teacher who tragically drowned while collecting wild flowers on the banks of the Thames at Kew Gardens. I loved her journal and would pore over the yellowed pages and wonderful watercolours for hours. I remembered Edith's work when the theme for this year's Fabric8 competition was announced and decided to create whimsical, modern-day botanical sketches as a tribute to Edith, and our mutual love for nature and the countryside. Meet Ceri Staziker--a textile designer based in Cardiff, Wales. Read more about this designer on the Spoonflower blog. (http://blog.spoonflower.com/2015/09/meet-ceri-staziker-fabric8-finalist.html)
