About the Design

Stunning peacocks whose feathers morph from flowers to swallows, bronze lotus, pendulous flowers,

& vining rebirth symbols make a magical rich forest

I designed this print using my own peacock reference photographs from a recent trip to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, and from photographs that I had taken of wild peacocks in Texas long ago. In the design, there are multiple symbols of new beginnings, peace, good omens, re-birth, spirituality, hope, and optimism. If you study the peacock tail feathers, the pattern begins close to the bird as simplified flowers, and as the spots move further away down the length of the peacock's tail, they morph into bird shapes, eventually turning into free-flying swallows in a magical forest dripping with pendulous flowers. Each peacock's head is highlighted by a bronze carved lotus "halo", or nimbus, symbolizing spirituality and re-birth. The colors are rich and saturated, with a subtle textured effect created by layering a pattern that I created by photographing a verdigris bronze-painted porcelain mushroom that I created in my kiln.
