About the Design

This is another size of my entry for the April 2022 challenge: Teamwork. A male and female

trumpeter swan work together to raise their young.

I learned a lot about swans as I was doing research for this design. Did you know that this type of swan, which holds its neck straighter, is native to the Americas? The ones with more curved necks are from Europe. Swans fly with slow wing beats, and their necks stretched out. They are the heaviest birds. The wingspan of a Trumpeter Swan is 6 to 8 feet. They migrate in V formation or diagonal formation at high heights and fly faster than any other birds. They also move faster through the water than any other birds. Trumpeter swans are the largest species of waterfowl. They are the heaviest and longest bird species in North America. Not only are swans graceful and beautiful, but they are also very strong. They generally do not harm humans but are capable of breaking a man's arm! I chose swans for my theme in this contest because they generally mate for life and the couple works together to care for the young. A female lays 3 - 12 eggs, with the average being 4-5.
