I love to collect bits and sprigs from the meadow, the forest floor, and even along the road as I walk my little white dog, Addie. Eventually my pockets are full (a self limiting decision) and I return home to paint. My rose collection includes roses mixed in with all these lovely images from my walks. We can grow a few roses here up north, but my main inspiration and love of roses grew from a trip to Martha's Vineyard where I was taken by the beautiful climbing antique rose vines in the area. I can't grow them here, but I can paint them. ©jmattsonjohnson
