red faces. With stripes and zig zag.
Goldfinches are among my favorite birds, they are so colorful and tiny. Little shy, you can easily observe them, and enjoy their melodious song. They are gregarious and when you see one, it is rarely alone, others are often nearby, and the observation is a treat. I liked to draw them, in several positions, in flight, or resting on the teasels from which they extract the seeds. These spiky flowers which look like thistles but are not are called "the cabaret of birds", cabaret because their leaves form at their base a basin which collects rainwater and serves as a drinking trough. What a pretty name for such a special flower! I like to introduce a bit of graphics in more realistic drawings, this contrast seems to me to highlight them each other. here, as often, my leaves are striped blue and black, and my teasels are drawn in zigzags, to emphasize their prickly look. . ©Andrea Leonelli, all rights reserved, I am always pleased to see your creations, please give credit if you sell with my art.
