As tempting as they look, raw beautyberries don't taste that great -- but they make a very pretty tea-colored jelly, and if you add them to apple pie filling, they introduce a delicate, interesting rosewater flavor. (We've taken ribbons in a canning competition or two with beautyberry apples, actually!) They ripen in late summer.
