Matchbook covers featuring advertising for two Hawaiian hotels that date from before the territory's 1959 statehood. Said hotels are the Waikiki Tavern and the Halekulani. The Halekulani was established in 1917 and still exists. The Waikiki Tavern depicted on this image was from the 1930's. It still existed as late as 1953, but these matchbooks are believed to be from the mid to late 1930's based on typography style on them, and the other more easily dated matchbook covers they were found with.
