The inspiration/point of reference for this design can be found here: http://graphicdefiner.wordpress.com/2009/11/30/vintage-luggage-tags/ (a fabulous typography-centered blog by Jonathan Howells) In recreating these tags, I tried to be as accurate as possible, even researching what flights were available on what airlines when these tags were in use!
