This week @Spoonflower the challenge is called The Italian Villa Wallpaper Design Challenge. The assignment is to create wallpaper designed for a room in an Italian villa. Something that emphasizes the architecture and reflects the natural beauty around it. As many of you know I love butteflies. So I thought it would be appropriate to search for a butterfly that lives in Italy as the inspiration for my design. The Apollo butterfly makes it's home in the Italian Alps and has many different variants. It likes sedum, particularly white sedum. In terms of the overall structure of the design I thought that a classical damask pattern would complement the architecture while the subject matter could be the reflection of the nature surrounding it.
