Geoducks are the World's largest burrowing clam! They are native to the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest (Primarily Washington State and British Columbia). The common name (pronounced “Gooey-duck”) is derived from the Lushootseed (Nisqually) word gʷídəq. Geoducks can live more than 150 years and can grow more than 3 feet in length. The large meaty siphon is prized for it's savory flavor and crunchy texture and the hunting of Geoducks is very closely regulated to prevent over harvesting. A Geoduck named “Speedy” is the mascot of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA The Pacific Northwest is the BEST!
