Painted traditionally in watercolor then scanned and tiled digitally. Made for the 'Hand-Drawn Florals' challenge, which encouraged participants to draw inspiration from local flora. The challenge was in partnership with Australian based Peppermint Magazine. These two factors inspired me to paint Eucalyptus leaves, flowers and seed pods. Though these Australian trees are not originally native to where I grew up in Southern California, they've become naturalized over the last century and are now very common both in landscaping and in the wild. I have always loved these trees and have many fond childhood memories making crafts from the seed pods and bark. I hope you enjoy my watercolor Eucalyptus florals as much as I enjoyed painting them. (Note: This is the small print version. I entered the medium version into the challenge.)
