This week, we invite artists to simplify their entries with the art of “less is more” for the Minimalist Cheater Quilts Design Challenge. Using only two colors, master the look of minimalism with geometric shapes and classic quilt block patterns to create a contemporary creation that feels modern and effortlessly sophisticated.

Details

Create a design that resembles the pieced-together look of a traditional quilt – all the charm of patchwork without the work of intricate sewing! Simple, bold patterns with larger blocks (6” to 12” wide, for example) help make for a powerful visual impact that makers will adore.

When piecing together your entry, think of how your design will look printed on wide format fabric for beautiful quilt backings, fashionable apparel fabric for cheater quilt tops or jackets, or even on sturdy fabric for tote bags or upholstery. Each entry will be shown on a yard of fabric.
