I was very upset when Spoonflower discontinued their original Celosia Velvet and replaced it. I had worked hard to modify many of my designs to print well on the original velvet, often toning down my colors considerably, as some colors could go almost fluorescent on the fabric. I've retested 30 designs on the new velvet now (introduced, summer of 2019), and, in many cases, the new sample is softer and less contrasty. For many designs, there is an original version without the -CV suffix. You may want to see if you can find that version and test both on the new velvet. (Or contact me, and I'll let you know and direct you to the other version, if there is one.) If you love the design and feel that neither version works as well on the new velvet as you think it might, please also contact me—if you have the time in your project schedule.
