Description:

This design is derived from a stitching pattern on old-fashioned Japanese cleaning cloths. In the Japanese tradition of thriftiness, old cloth is recycled as cleaning cloths reinforced with stitching that is decorative as well as functional. The stitching is called 'sashiko' and the cleaning cloths are called 'zokin'.
