This robot design harks back to the old days of clockwork automata or to some alternate steampunk universe - with its gears and cogs, spanners and nuts rather than electronic circuit-boards, integrated processor chips, dynamically programmable software, advanced sensors and adaptive functionality. The little robot even has port and starboard coloured feet to help it remember which one is which.
As a cheater quilt, the design layout is constructed to look as though the whole was pieced together from diamonds (squares of 4¼") cut from 2 colour variants each of 4 different patterned or feature fabrics. The actual repeat is set at 12" square (to fit nicely on a yard of the standard quilting cotton).
