I am retired and my main passion is digital art followed by quilting . Once I discovered Spoonflower I could see this as the next step in joining these two interests together.

Description:

A collage of old Australian stamps was used for the background with the kangaroo taking the showplace on the front!

A bag of stamps was given to me by a favorite Uncle when I was eight. I still have them. The half penny was a very important stamp way back then http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/10882.will show all the stamps in my stamps collections..

koalalady says: Su,Thanks again. This wasn't just an old stamp it was the most common everyday one of its time. I was going to make a larger version of this one and i will as soon as I think of a very good use for it. :-)

su_g says: I like your note! It is good to know that it really is "old Australian stamps" and I think it makes it more interesting as a design - that it captures a piece of history, of both stamps, and of Australia. I think this would make an interesting fabric for use in a quilt, or as a feature (pockets maybe, or a border) on clothing items. I like the tossed stamp designs too!

koalalady says: Hi Su, Way back a couple of years I entered my first Spoonflower competition. It was calling for Paper Collage and as I had a bag of stamps given to me by my Uncle I entered with a collage of stamps -I chose a world theme at that time. Since then I have a stamp collection in my fabric collections file. This competition came along. I enter few competitions as I am dependent on photography to effect a design. I can draw after a fashion but it takes so much time and I don't have that to spare. I shall put some more details on this particular design and am very grateful for the suggestion- :-) Cheers,Shirley

su_g says: So unusual - and I'm very curious about this design: is it using a real stamp? Or I should say stamps because there's such a collection there! A note giving some details would be great!
