I like to imagine that female pirates in the 18th century were subject to adventure and fantastical fashion, instead of the realities of harassment, scurvy, and limited hygiene. While not strictly in the rococo style, the subjects themselves are rococo-inspired. I'm guessing this is the mentality that birthed skanky Halloween costumes. I originally illustrated these debonair dames in ink and watercolor. You can see them in higher resolution on my blog, here: http://jaanarocks.com/post/2644423990/fashionable-pirate-girls-ink-and-watercolor-i

rhondadesigns says: I love this design! You have taken the theme and looked at it from a lateral rather than a literal perspective. I particularly like the clever reference to Coco Chanel. I know someone who would adore these costumes. She has quite a few steam-punk outfits and various other retro clothes and something like this would be an excuse to dress up and party. You have captured the essence of the Rococo era over-embellishment with these buxom buccaneer femmes fatales!
