Description:

After a rare drop of rain the Sturt’s Desert Pea will scramble across the ground

After a rare drop of rain the Sturt’s Desert Pea will scramble across the ground while it's odd, orangey red flowers with their eerie black eyes rear up to interrupt the usually dry, dull landscape with occasional bursts of vibrant colour.

inscribed_here says: Thanks so much for looking and commenting. I wondered if these flowers might be a little odd for some people but went ahead with this design anyway. They are always the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the desert.

inscribed_here says: Thanks so much everyone for all your wonderful comments. I'm so glad you find my freaky flowers fascinating. I wanted to do something a little different for this theme and I guess I have!
Cean, I think of them as the bikers of Australian wildflower. The old man banksia cone is from a tough rival club. Nature is stranger than anything we can think up.
I added a link in the sidebar to the wiki page for this plant for anyone who is interested.
