The House of Faberge made jeweled and/or enameled eggs, mostly miniature, that were given as gifts at Easter. The most famous were the larger ones made for Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia (known as the "Imperial" Faberge eggs). About 42 of the 50 eggs known to have been made have survived.
