This is my entry in the African inspired fabric contest This image was created as a peaceful prayer.

This is my entry in the African inspired fabric contest This image was created as a peaceful prayer. I took blessings from 5 different religious practices that all pertained to the pursuit of peace and doodled the words entwined upon each other. I then cut the image up into 4 pieces that represent the 4 directions, north south, east and west and created several fabrics from each of the 4 directions. Not only do you get a fun letter fabric but the blessings that I put there for you. Here I have manipulated those images into primitive like patterns to further explore the idea and expand on the theme which is One World, One Love, Let's get together and feel alright. Let me hear you sing it now!

whimzwhirled says: Pamela, Each stripe is a different design and I will be posting them as seporate fabrics as well. That will give you a clear view of the patterns as they will be a larger scale. I will make them publicly viewable and send you the links when I get them done. I was going to do that anyway and just forgot so now I have a reason to get er done. Thanks again for stopping in and reminding me.

whimzwhirled says: Thanks Su, for taking the time to read about my word pray series. Peace on Earth seems like an impossible dream sometimes. A wise teacher once told me though that it doesn't matter how far away your goals and dreams might seem. The only thing you can do that matters is to live your life as if there were no way it can't happen. That each of us who believe in peace in mind and practice brings us one step closer to a time when war becomes unheard of and not an accepted part of society. If the world never catches up, at least you did your part.

su_g says: Striking! Especially in the close up swatch view, but also in different ways at the FQ and yardage views, where it can look like an intricate rug and stained glass panels. Interesting to read your process notes!
