weavingmajor says: thanks Victoria and Tracey and Sklater! yup, this is real frost - I just erased all the background windows and moved the crystals around till they fit! Ooh, I like the idea of a plum color... you're right, the green didn't work as well as the blue. Hmmmm....

weaving...

weavingmajor says: thanks so much Scrummy and Vo!
Scrummy, I haven't tried it against black; I feel like the dark grey (which black turns out to be) wouldn't make them sparkle like the blue does. I did do it on green, though.
Vo, you're welcome to come visit anytime! We can make room for you at Daniel's camp most winter weekends...

weaving...

weavingmajor says: aww, thanks Rhonda and Kukubee! This was so much fun to do! After I got all the pictures I could, I separated them into 140 crystals each on their own layer, erased all the background, and moved them around until they looked right. Took me about five weeks to do it, but was definitely one of my favorite ever designs to do!

rhondad...

rhondadesigns says: This design captures the essence of the cold, ephemeral beauty of Winter. I am so glad you recorded, and transcribed for our enjoyment and use, this unique collection of ice flower pictures by Jack Frost.

weaving...

weavingmajor says: thanks Victoria and Nadja! "Ice flowers" is such a great name for frost.
Nadja, definitely still do a frost pattern! There is such infinite variety in the shapes of "ice flowers" that I'm sure yours will look different than mine! I did this one in January and am looking forward to this year's frost too...

nadjagirod says: so cool!!! I wanted to do a pattern with "ice flowers" too (that's what they are called in german), but we don't have any frost yet :)
