Description:

Inspired by the pottery of the ancient Greeks, this is a dramatic design with an earthy colour palette and regal tints of gold.

Like the glossy relics of an ancient Greek vase, this design is draped in a rich chestnut brown. The lean figures of Greek Olympians stand out in detail against the surface, their tawny peach colouring like dried orange clay. They race towards invisible finish lines, repeated along each row in an endless race. Their movements are theatrical and sprightly, their limbs stretched elegantly as though in dance. Golden wreathes of leaves and branches adorn the design, delicate monuments to this ancient era. There’s a soft, sweeping colour gradient that moves throughout the design, from pale beige to golden hues, as though faded by time with a hint of forgotten opulence. http://kociaratextiles.blogspot.co.uk/ http://kociara.com © Marta Rusin 2012 All designs available in different scales and colorways. If you can't find what you are looking for perhaps I could design it for you? I look forward to hearing from you!

su_g says: There are so many details that lift this design and make it interesting to look at - like the one fat stroke on the Greek key, and the color variation across the registers, and many little details of the runners! I can see this in the runner's rest room, and as wallpaper in the Olympic Village!

tallula...

tallulahdahling says: It *would* make funny (and yet elegant) boxers, especially with the missing body part. It could also be used as a border on something.

sheila'...

sheila's_corner says: It would be great on towels for a men's restroom, or a throw, or pillows. (not manly those, I guess) i love all of the elements you used... and how you brought them together!

kociara says: Thank you for your great comments Victoria and Darla! Darla, I am not surprised this makes you giggle, I would be quite giggly seeing a large group of naked men running! :) However this illustration is not quite anatomically correct... if you know what I mean.... My first draft happened to have an unfortunate overlap of one runner's hand over another's crotch area- I kept this one private but here it is for more giggles http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1316604. This design is child friendly :) I will certainly have a swatch printed of this ( to make it available for sale) but not very soon, I have just ran a batch, so possibly in 6 weeks or so. Actually after I designed the piece I could not think of a use for this, to be honest, but now it occurred to me it could possibly make a fun pair of boxer shorts for a boy or a man :)
