It made me sad that there were so many beautiful and fascinating old pictures that weren't being cherished by the descendants of the people in the photos. They should be treasured family mementoes, kept in photo albums and beautiful frames, not sold to strangers in antique shops! But maybe these people have no remaining descendants? Maybe now it is up to strangers like me to treasure these old ancestors, even though they aren't my own.
