wren_leyland says: Thanks! It is understandable that the fabric stores order what they expect to sell (I love many of those designs too). That's the elegance of print-on-demand in its various forms -- a greater diversity of design comes forth, with less risk for the producers. I agree with you that Spoonflower is chock full of great designers!

kcs says: I just spent way too many hours in a fabric store & note: 1) spoonflower has designers as talented (and more!) than those employed by major fabric houses, and 2) there are already A LOT of very cute, bright, cheerful, floral, dot, chevron (etc) designs on the market. Of course, this wasn't a high-end store. And of course the market is saturated with those types of designs (many of which I really love) for a reason...BUT, it is nice to see someone wiling to branch out into a different color palette. It seems to me that some of these designs would be awesome for interior decoration.

wren_leyland says: Katherine, thanks! It's a little dark for Spoonflower culture, but some people like to design their own clothes and costumes with a mysterious or historical slant. I hadn't noticed your ya-ya, la-la and go-go designs before... I'm enjoying all your patterns.
