This design imitates a burnout velvet fabric with a peacock pattern and dots on it.
Note that the Spoonflower preview is slightly blurred. Please have a look (as in, click it and look at the larger version of the image on Flickr!) at the fabric swatch photo of this fabric which I posted below to see what the printed fabric actually looks like!
The turquoise / blue background is, actually, checkered (with darker blue and light green squares) to imitate an irridescent appearance .
The velvet part has been imitated by digitizing tiny 'hairs' and adding shadow beneath them. Also, a slight color variation has been added to each of the hairs, imitating the 'glowing' appearance of burn-out silk velvet.
I recommend ordering this fabric in Organic Cotton Sateen, since the design will print most clearly on that fabric; also, the fabric width is very convenient.
