If that dang world war hadn't gotten in everybody's way there would have been a lot more 1940's Studebakers around. Instead the Studebaker corporation turned their South Bend Indiana production facilities over to the war efforts, producing Jeeps and Weasels for the military. So this car, made in 1940, 1941, never had a 1943-45 model. Throughout the entire war, this was one of the newest cars on the block.
