Murres are one of the few birds that flap their wings while swimming, appearing to "fly" underwater. They are able to fly in the air as well, but much less gracefully. Many people dream of flying. Perhaps through swimming and diving we can experience a similar feeling of underwater flight. These birds were drawn with a pencil and scanned and converted to vector in illustrator. The texture was created from a hand-printed linoblock and converted to a monotone image. This is my entry for the "Flights of fancy" palette restricted contest.
