Going up to Vermont to see my mom, I stopped along the way at a shop to buy her some ribbon candy. As I walked towards the shop, I heard the familiar sound of a bell ringing. The season brings volunteers out to collect for the less fortunate. Standing out in the freezing cold, clad with red Santa hats and smiles, these people ring the bell to call us to give a donation for the poor. As I got closer, I put the money in the red bucket and asked the woman if she was cold. She said "Yes, it is pretty cold today, but I do this every year. You see this charity helped me and my children when they were young. When I get home I feel very warm because my heart is warm". The GIFT OF GIVING collection was inspired by this story.
