This design is a floral based on the semi-regular tetrad grid of squares and equilateral triangles. So these michaelmas or osteospermum daisies are actually positioned and oriented extremely precisely (on the edge-centres, vertices and some of the face-centres) rather than being scattered randomly. However, the complex symmetries of that plane group result in the continual breaking up of the easy patterns that the brain wants to track (and it's even harder when all the flowers are made the same colour). This puts it on the borderline of being a "ditsy" pattern while the tetrads ensure that the design is multidirectional.
