About the Design

illustrated fox and icy flowers ~ RECYCLED CANVAS / LINEN COTTON CANVAS / TWILL FQ ~ fox is also

available as a tea towel and swatch art.

Illustrated fox and icy flowers ~ simple unlined drawstring gift bag kit to fit a fat quarter 27x18 inches. I used eco canvas. Instructions: Cut out the bag and drawstring piece. Hem the bag piece all the way around, about 1/4 inch. Make the casing for the drawstring by folding and pressing the top down 1 1/2". Sew across the bottom of the casing. Fold right sides together, press flat, sew bottom and open side up to the bottom of the casing. To box the corners of the bag (to give it 3D shape) pinch the bottom corners so that the side and bottom seam are together. Pin and mark a line across to create a triangle (the outside triangle lengths should be equal, about 1"). Do this on both the folded crease side and the seamed side of the bag. Sew and snip off the triangles. Turn right side out. To make the drawstring, press the top and bottom about 1/4" inwards along the length, and then press in half (like bias). Sew along the open edge. Use a safety pin to feed through the casing. Sew the drawstring ends together securely and then pull the drawstring through the casing channel to hide the join.
