About the Design

In 'Alice in Wonderland', the Cheshire Cat is a fantasy creature, known mainly for his smile. This

is a child-friendly, cuddly, blue version.

N.B. THIS IS DESIGNED TO FIT ON A FAT QUARTER OF FABRIC THAT IS 54" WIDE, SUCH AS ECO CANVAS. This is a fat-quarter size pre-printed pattern, to make a soft toy (plushie) version of the Cheshire Cat from Lewis Carroll's story 'Alice in Wonderland'. The original character in the story was a mysterious and somewhat scary creature, who tended to disappear, leaving only his smile. This Cheshire Cat is much friendlier, but his smile is still the most important thing about him. He is modelled on a real cat called Dolly, but he is still mysterious and strange - so he is blue! Like the fictional cat in 'Alice in Wonderland), he has a large head, in proportion to his body. Full instructions are given for constructing the cat. It is simple to make and the only other requirements are toy filling and thread. The cat should not be over-stuffed; he remains a flat-ish and pillow-like shape. The head is attached to the body by stitching securely through the eyes and nose to the back of the body.
