A great simple a-line scoop neck tank top, ideally should be made with a lightweight jersey fabric (works really well with the Modern Jersey fabric!) Cut out desired pattern size (see color coded sizing chart), then cut out your fabric: you need 1 front and 1 back. If you wish to create neck and shoulder facings: you can make a “bias tape” from your fabric by cutting 2 inch wide strips and attaching in a number of ways: Example 1: cut 2 inch wide strips from your fabric and fold in half. Serge your facing along the inside edge of neckline and armholes (sewn to wrong side of fabric), then press along seam to make neck facing lay flat. This works best if you stretch your facing fabric a bit as you go, especially if you are using a stretch fabric. Example 2: cut 2 inch wide strips from your fabric and surge the right side of your facing to the the wrong side of your neckline and armholes, along the top edge. Next, press under ¼” of your facing, and turn facing to outside of shirt, pressing along surged edge. Topstitch along outer edge of facing. You can skip the facing and just leave raw edges if you’re using a jersey fabric; the edges will just roll a bit on the edges, but won’t fray. OR, serge your neckline and armholes for a different look - use contrasting thread and make the stitching part of your design! Body Assembly: Line up front and back shoulders, right sides facing, and sew along top of shoulder. Next, line up side seams at armpit and bottom hem, sew.
